We are excited to offer a complimentary Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Assessment to help you understand and manage your pelvic pain more effectively. This form, which takes approximately 5 minutes, includes key questions designed to gather essential information about your symptoms, lifestyle, and medical history.

Once you’ve completed the form, you have two options to proceed. You can book a call with me, Rosa, to discuss your symptoms in more detail and how Physiotherapy can help.
Alternatively, you can visit our clinic in Leith for a more indepth assessment for just £30 (normally £70) During this in-person evaluation, I will assess your pelvic health through a physical examination and discuss your symptoms thoroughly.

Our goal is to provide you with the understanding, reassurance, and confidence you need to improve your quality of life. By identifying the root causes of your discomfort, we can tailor a specific treatment plan suited to your needs. Don’t let pelvic pain dictate your life—take the first step towards relief by starting your free assessment today.

Meet Rosa: Your Dedicated Women's Health Physiotherapy Specialist

I am passionate about movement and exercise, especially during pregnancy and postpartum. Here’s a snapshot of me pushing through the final stretch of the Aberfeldy Half Iron Man. Whether it’s running, cycling, swimming, or gymnastics, I thrive on staying active and helping expectant and new mothers do the same. My enthusiasm for the science of movement is what led me to study an MSc in Physiotherapy, graduating with distinction.

Since then, I have specialized in Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. I gained invaluable experience as a senior MSK physiotherapist in the NHS in Manchester, and I currently work as an Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist in Pelvic Health in NHS Lothian. At Health by Science, I bring this wealth of knowledge and expertise to support my clients’ pre- and postnatal health journeys.

To further enhance my skills, I have completed additional courses from the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine and am currently undergoing my Mummy MOT certification. I am also actively involved with a research team run by Keele University that explores pain science and activity pacing. I am excited to collaborate with you on your journey to optimal health and wellbeing, using my expertise and experience every step of the way.

What Does Pelvic Girdle Pain Feel Like?

Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) during pregnancy can manifest in a variety of ways, affecting each individual differently. Typically, PGP is described as a persistent or intermittent pain in the pelvic region, which may radiate to the lower back, hips, groin, and thighs. Some women compare the sensation to a dull ache, while others experience sharp, shooting pains.

The discomfort is often exacerbated by specific movements, such as walking, climbing stairs, standing on one leg, or turning over in bed. In severe cases, even simple tasks like getting dressed or lifting light objects can become challenging. The pain may also be accompanied by a clicking or grinding sensation in the pelvic joints. It’s important to recognise these symptoms and seek appropriate care to manage and alleviate PGP effectively.
