If you’ve trained for years and your numbers have stopped moving, you’re in the right place

Whatever’s brought you here, you don’t need to figure it out by yourself.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You’re putting in gym time, but your strength hasn’t improved much since last year.

  • You like the idea of weekly coaching but the per-session cost of going 1-to-1 makes it hard to commit to long enough to see real change

  • You keep ending up in gym classes that promise strength and deliver disguised cardio

  • You want to lift heavier, but loading the bar with no coach watching feels like a recipe for an angry lower back

  • Your motivation drops the second the accountability does, and the wheels fall off by week three

  • You’ve Googled “personal training Edinburgh and bounced off the price tag every time

  • You like the idea of a community of people who actually train, not just turn up

That is exactly what Strength Lab is built for.

Coached. Programmed. Progressed.

Three things every Strength Lab member gets, every week.

Coached

You train with a UKSCA-accredited coach in the room, at a 1 to 4 ratio. That means hands-on cueing, real-time load calls and technique fixes that you cannot get from a screen or a self-written programme. If you’re grinding a rep that should not be ground, your coach sees it before you do.

Programmed

Your programme is built for you, not handed out as a printout. You get 2 main lifts (one upper, one lower) and 3 supporting lifts (a second lower, a second upper, and a single-leg pattern). It’s delivered through our app on your phone, with video demos, exercise history, rest timers and direct messaging to your coach.

Progressed

Every 4 to 6 weeks, the lead coach reviews your full programme and progresses load, volume, exercise selection or all three. You don’t just turn up and lift the same kit forever. Strength is supposed to climb, and the programme is built to make it climb.

What £100 per month of small group personal training Edinburgh actually buys you

We’ve structured it so the value is visible. Here’s the deal.

In the gym, every week: One 60-minute coached session in Lab 1, Leith. 1 coach to a maximum of 4 clients. Your coach cues your lifts, calls your loads, adjusts technique in real time and runs the warm-up and finisher.

In the app, every day: Your personalised EverFit programme, with video demos for every exercise, exercise history so you can see your last load, rest timers, and direct messaging with your coach. Train extra sessions on your own if you want to, with the same programme guiding you.

Every 4 to 6 weeks: A full programme review and progression from the lead coach. Load up. Volume up. Exercise selection refreshed. Movement quality re-assessed. You never sit on the same week of training for a quarter.

Real People. Clear Progress.

Here’s what happens when you start with clarity — and structure.

Stephen came in with a shoulder injury just as he was starting a new training programme. The Movement MOT gave him a clear baseline and Bradley built a plan that worked around the injury without stalling his progress.

Meryl had never been confident in the gym and didn’t know where to start. The Movement MOT gave her a starting point, a plan built around her goals, and the confidence that she’s moving the right way.

Finally understood what was wrong

The Movement MOT highlighted issues with my form that I hadn’t spotted myself. I left with a clear, targeted plan to improve strength, posture and prevent re-injury. Practical, thorough and incredibly helpful.

Clear diagnosis and action plan

I had a great experience with the MOT and the online physio. Both Stuart and Kubo were incredibly supportive, patient, and clear in their guidance. I would highly recommend it to anyone who feels a bit lost when starting their exercise journey and is looking for a structured, confidence-building approach. It really helped me gain clarity and feel more secure about where to begin.

I had a MOT session with Bradley ans it went great. He explained everything so I could understand what I was doing and had a cool vibe. You can also tell he is very knowledgeable.

Gave me a strong sense of confidence

I had a Movement MOT with Bradley at Health by Science. The session was incredibly helpful and gave me a strong sense of confidence in understanding where my movement and fitness is currently and how best to move forward. Bradley was really friendly and clear and it was a very enjoyable session.

Six movement patterns, trained well, for the rest of your life

Every Strength Lab programme is built around six movement patterns. They cover the way the body actually moves, in training and out of it. We coach them in this order of priority because long-term strength, not Instagram novelty, is the point.

Squat

The squat trains your legs, hips and trunk under load through the deepest joint angles you’ll ever ask of them. People who can squat their bodyweight at 60 are the same people who can stand up off the floor at 80. This is non-negotiable in every programme, scaled to where you are now.

Hip Hinge

The hinge (deadlift, Romanian deadlift, kettlebell swing) is where you learn to load the back of the body the way it was built to be loaded. It’s the antidote to a desk job. It’s also where the biggest absolute strength gains in any programme tend to come from.

Push

Push covers vertical and horizontal pressing, from overhead pressing to bench and push-up variations. It builds the shoulders, chest and triceps, but more importantly it builds shoulder health by training the joint through full ranges under control.

Pull

Pull is everything we owe to a working day spent leaning forward at a screen. Rows, pull-ups, pulldowns. We programme more pulling than pushing for almost everyone, because almost everyone needs it.

Single-Leg

Walking, running, climbing stairs. Almost everything you do outside the gym is single-leg. Lunges, split squats, step-ups and Bulgarian split squats build the resilience and asymmetry tolerance that bilateral lifts cannot.

Carry

Loaded carries (farmer’s, suitcase, front-rack) train your trunk, grip and posture under real-world load. They are the closest thing in the gym to actual life: pick something heavy up and walk somewhere with it.

Measured on Levels 1–5

Levels 1 to 5 Every member is scored at intake and progressed block by block through our Levels 1 to 5 system. Level 1 is foundational competency in each pattern. Level 5 is the floor of serious training. You can see your level for every pattern at any time, which means you always know what you’re working towards next.

Coaches and physios, working side by side

Strength Lab is delivered by a blend of UKSCA-accredited strength coaches and HCPC-registered chartered physiotherapists who work in the same building, every day. If something flares up mid-block, the physio is next door. If a physio client is ready to load, they walk down to a coach. That feedback loop is rare in a city full of standalone PT studios and standalone clinics.

This Is for You If…

  • You’ve trained before and you’re either plateauing or drifting
  • You want a coach watching your form, not a trainer counting your reps
  • You’re happy to commit to one fixed weekly slot, every week, for at least the first 5-week block
  • You’d rather pay £100 per month for coached, programmed training than £60 a pop for ad-hoc 1-to-1
  • You like the idea of training in a private studio with 3 other adults who take it as seriously as you do
  • You’re comfortable using an app on your phone to follow your programme
  • You can demonstrate, or are close to, a goblet squat at 10% of your bodyweight (we’ll check this in your Intro Session)
  • You want to be coached, not just counted. If you’re looking for a drop-in class or a pure bootcamp vibe, this is not it.

Trusted by universities and healthcare partners across Edinburgh

We don’t just follow best practice, we help develop it. Through our partnerships with local universities and NHS-aligned healthcare providers, we bring the latest rehabilitation research directly into our clinic.

Why we screen for movement before we take your money

Every Strength Lab member needs to demonstrate Level 3 squat competency at intake, which we define as a clean goblet squat at 10% of your bodyweight. That’s not a barrier to keep people out. It’s a sign of respect. Loading a programme onto someone whose squat pattern isn’t ready is a fast route to a sore back and a wasted month.

The Strength Lab Intro Session exists for exactly this. In 60 minutes in Lab 1, your coach screens your squat, hinge, push, pull, single-leg and carry patterns, and tells you honestly whether Strength Lab is the right next step. If it is, you leave with a programme already in your app and a class slot booked. If it isn’t, you leave with a personalised pathway: usually a short block of 1-to-1 Personal Training, a Movement MOT, or a referral to one of our chartered Physiotherapists. Either way, you don’t sign up for something that won’t work for you.

Not sure if your body is ready? If you have an old injury, a niggle, or anything you’d want a clinical opinion on before starting strength work, we offer a free online physio assessment. 15 minutes with a chartered physio, no obligation, and a clear answer on the right next step.
