Alex Nairn

Co-Founder & Lead Physiotherapist

Helping you move from “fixing” to flourish. As lead clinician at Health by Science, I help people recover through physiotherapy in Edinburgh that focuses on long-term strength, not just symptom-chasing.

Physiotherapy is more than just a 55-minute appointment.

I started my journey in professional football, but a career-ending injury taught me the true value of rehabilitation.

At Health by Science, I’ve applied those lessons to our physiotherapy in Edinburgh, creating a biopsychosocial approach to care.

We don’t offer passive “fixing”. Instead, we use hands-on therapy to “open a window” of reduced pain so we can get to work on the real solution: building your long-term independence and confidence.

Raising the standard of care

Responsible for the clinical development of every Physiotherapist at Health by Science.

  • Clinical Mentor: I personally oversee the training of our physiotherapy team, ensuring every practitioner utilizes our assessment-first, evidence-led framework.
  • The Continuum Principle: I work alongside Ross to ensure there is no “gap” between finishing rehabilitation and starting personal training in Edinburgh.
  • Whole-Person Specialist: I train our team to look beyond the injury site to understand how sleep, stress, and lifestyle impact your recovery.

  • Pain Management & Injury Confidence: Helping you move without fear, whether you’re returning to running or simply want to walk pain-free.
  • Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Structured, safe progression following major orthopedic procedures.
  • Complex Health & Chronic Pain: Individualised pacing for those navigating long-term health challenges.
